Gaston Ibarroule ("we", "our", or "us") operates the Sonidata iOS application (the "App"). We respect your privacy and are committed to protecting it through our compliance with this policy. Sonidata is designed with privacy at its core, ensuring your audio recordings and metadata remain absolutely in your control.
1. Data Collection and Usage
Audio Recordings
All audio recordings made using the App are stored entirely on your local device. We do not transmit, collect, or store your audio recordings on our servers.
Speech-to-Text (Voice Slate)
The Voice Slate feature uses on-device machine learning (Apple's WhisperKit) to transcribe your voice for file naming. No voice data or transcriptions are ever sent to the cloud or third-party servers.
Location Data
If you grant the App permission to access your location, this data is used exclusively to tag your recordings with geographical metadata (reverse geocoding). This location data is saved locally within the file metadata on your device and is not collected by us.
Camera
If you grant the App permission to access your camera, photos are used solely to capture images of your recording location or sound source. These images are attached as cover artwork to your recordings and stored locally on your device. They are not transmitted to our servers.
Photo Library
If you grant the App permission to access your photo library, selected images are used solely as cover artwork for your audio recordings. Photos remain on your device and are not collected or transmitted by us.
File System Access
The App may request access to files on your device in order to read, rename, and embed professional metadata (such as UCS categories, descriptions, and recordist information) into your audio recordings. All file operations are performed locally on your device.
Cloud Sync
You may choose to back up your data using third-party services like iCloud Drive, Google Drive, or Dropbox. When you use these services, your data is governed by the privacy policies of those respective providers. We do not have access to your cloud accounts or backups.
Anonymous Usage Analytics
Sonidata collects anonymous app usage data to help us understand how features are used and improve the app experience. This includes general information such as which features are accessed, recording format preferences, session duration, and basic device information (device model, OS version, app version). This data is fully anonymous — it contains no personal information, no audio content, no filenames, no location data, and no user identifiers. It cannot be used to identify you. No data is shared with third parties. You can contact us at any time to learn more about the data we collect.
2. Analytics and Third-Party Tracking
The App does not include any third-party analytics trackers, advertising SDKs, or behavioral tracking tools. We do not collect personal data for marketing purposes. As described above, the App collects only anonymous, aggregated usage data to improve the experience — this data cannot identify you and is never shared with third parties.
3. Data Retention
Because the App operates primarily offline and stores data locally, we do not dictate data retention. You maintain full control over your files and can delete them from your device or your chosen cloud storage at any time.
4. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page. Changes will be incorporated with your next app version update.
