Voice Slate

Voice Slate lets you dictate the FX Name using speech-to-text instead of typing — ideal when your hands are occupied with gear or you're working quickly between takes.

How to Use

  1. 1In the Naming View, tap the microphone icon next to the FX Name field.
  2. 2Speak clearly — describe the sound (e.g., "Bark Close").
  3. 3The transcription appears in the FX Name field.

Technical Details

Uses Apple's native SFSpeechRecognizer — all processing happens on-device, completely private. Sonidata injects dynamic contextual hints from UCS categories to improve transcription accuracy for sound design terminology. Audio is recorded to a temporary PCM 16 kHz mono file, then transcribed.

Voice Slate Language

You can change the recognition language in Settings → Recording → Voice Slate Language. Options include Device Default and all languages supported by Apple's Speech framework.

Voice Slate is free for all users.
